|Liverpool buy out Mascherano|
Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano has signed a four-year contract with Liverpool after the club came to an arrangement with MSI to buy out his contract.
"I am very, very happy and now I can concentrate just on playing football," Mascherano told the club website. "I said all along that I wanted to stay at Liverpool and now that I have signed I can say this is the best and the biggest moment in my career so far.
"From the first day I arrived at Liverpool the feeling was good and I knew this was where I wanted to play my football.
"I am at a top side and I know I can win titles here. That's the big thing for me. I want to be at a club where we can win trophies and have success."
The 23-year-old former Corinthians and River Plate midfielder had been on an 18-month loan deal from the controversial organisation, who also own the rights to Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez.
But Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez was keen to tie-down the player to a long-term contract as soon as possible, something which led to conflict with the club's American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillet.
The fine details of the contract and the transfer fee are yet to be announced, although MSI were seeking in the region of £17 million for the player.
